EDU - 402.1 - School Internship Phase II - Week 1 (12/06/24 - 15/06/24)

Week 1 (12/06/24 - 15/06/24)

"Teaching is the greatest act of optimism."

                                                                                  - Colleen Wilcox

The second phase of our teaching practice started on 12-06-24. There were 4 working days. We reached on time. The entire school warmly welcomed us. I was allotted to teach Chemistry in 8A and Physics in 9A. Mary Ann teacher was my allotted teacher. We were 6 in numbers from Karmela Rani Training College for teaching practice. We started the day gracefully. On the first day I interacted with the students of 8A. During lunch time we served food to students.

On 13-06-24 I got substitution period in 8th and 9th. I started with the chapters - 'Properties of Matter'  (8A) and 'Refraction' (9A).

On 14-06-24 our school had a special assembly. Awareness about Rabies was given by the health inspector during the assembly. A pledge was taken by the students against Rabies.

I showed live experiments in the class 8 to teach 'Matter' and 'Tiny particles'. The experiment where the paper didn't get wet when the glass which had the paper inverted in a glass full of water fascinated the students.

I taught 'Incident Ray and Refracted Ray' using ICT. By using PHET simulations it was easy to convey the concept and the students were really attentive.

'Practical activities of Refraction' lesson was really interesting for me to teach as well as for the students to learn. The experiments showing disappearance of coin, appearance of coin using glass and water stimulated the thinking of students.

I understood that direct experiences can have a huge impact in understanding a concept.
